2015 for NAS Corporation has been fairly busy. We have since March assisted the new owner of Tyrol Air Ambulance (TAA) with operational and commercial matters. During this period TAA increased considerably (40 %) the number of hours operated with the existing aircraft. Such that the company will end up profitable for the first time in its recent history, and is expanding its fleet for 2016.
Antarctic operations- another first – working with Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions NAS organised to charter a B757 from Icelandair, and after seven months of preparation the first commercial B757 landed in Antarctica at Union Glacier.
Having spent this year proving the concept, much discussion and consideration for future operations for the carriage of passengers into Antarctica are underway.
The IL76 continues to be the mainstay of the cargo operations into Antarctica, and we are busy planning for February 2016 and the resupply of the Argentine Antarctic Base by parachute.
Specialised and outsize cargo movements have also kept us busy, specifically for the oil and gas industry, which despite going through the doldrums still require equipment to be moved around the world.
Andrew and Samantha have been out of touch since January this year, and we believe we owe you an explanation and an overdue update.
In January 2013, we decided to retire from Avient. Whilst this was a difficult decision it was the right choice for us personally, enabling us to spend more time with the family and pursue some personal interests. Having spent 20 years building and driving Avient, working 24hours a day, seven days a week almost continuously we needed a change. We love working in the airline industry and have met so many wonderful people who have worked with us over many years, and therefore intend to remain connected.
The senior Management at Avient Limited expressed the desire to take over the Company, moving it forward into a future phase of development. This we both appreciate was a courageous stance by Simon Clarke and Neil Glover and we do wish them well as it certainly is not an easy task. The ideas and concepts of how the business was built plus the long standing customer and supplier relationships were passed over for the future of the business. We will do whatever we can to assist them or offer advice from the side-lines if requested.
Subsequently the new owners and Directors have changed the company name to AV cargo following the model of Avient but with their own image.
We therefore have no involvement or interests in Avient Limited / Avient Aviation and / or AV Cargo.
We started up a new company called NAS Corporation Limited. NAS stands for Niche Aviation Solutions. We have a number of on-going operations and project involvement and we continue to work in the industry consulting on various projects and operations given our knowledge of Africa and the airline industry. Please visit our new website at www.nascorporation.biz. This is an initial information site depicts an overview of our plans. Our principle aim is to run a small business with the same ethos as we started Avient – key relationships and customer service. Please note our new contact details and we look forward to working with you in the future.
NAS Corporation will allow Andrew to grow his entrepreneurial skills once again but in a different and exciting environment. Andrew has extensive aviation experience, encompassing all aspects from commercial to maintenance; his principles have always been built on cost management, customer focus and strong supplier relationships.
Samantha will use her Sales and marketing skills to build a vibrant customer base and market NAS Corporation based on principles of communication and service but allowing time to have a personal life as well.
Both of us require challenges and opportunities in our lives and these we will continue to seek and explore.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you that we have worked with over the last 20 years, it has been a great experience even with all the never ending challenges and without all of your support Avient would not have developed.
We wish you all the best for the challenges and opportunities ahead and sincerely hope that we may work together in the future.
